This week, we are going to talk about a new coating we are offering on our Nylon parts. We produce a wide variety of parts for our customers, and we’re always looking to provide them with new colors and finishing options.
Ceramic-coated 3D-printed nylon parts are the latest advancement in 3D printing technology. By applying a ceramic coating to 3D printed parts, you can improve their durability and performance. This article will explain how ceramic coating works and why it is a better option than other coatings available on the market. Plus, we will provide tips on how to select the right ceramic coating for your application. Stay tuned!

We began to research our options. Painting seemed like a viable option, but we quickly discovered that it wouldn’t meet our needs. Colored dyes appeared to be another potential solution, so we took some time to explore that possibility further. We even tested metal plating, which has a lot of unique benefits, but we will save that for another blog post altogether!
After all that testing, we landed on the CeraKote H-Series coatings. The CeraKote bonds extremely well to the textured HP Multijet Fusion surface and maintains full coverage even with only a single coat. With bright colors, pearls, and metallic shine, it’s hard not to find the right color for every application.
The CeraKote is applied with a standard paint gun, but a lot of fine tuning with different air pressures, application distances, and flow was needed to get it to lay down perfectly. Pictured here are some of the sample cards we made so we can show the finished product to our customers.
